Lasting Celebrity Couples, Day 4 of 5

Our 4th couple is…Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.

Rita and Tom met in 1980 on the set of “Bossom Buddies,” where Tom had a starring role and Rita had a guest role. Although the attraction was there, they didn’t begin a relationship until they reunited for the movie “Volunteers,” in 1985.

Tom, who was unhappily married with two children at the time, claimed that they were falling in love on the set of the movie.

In 1987 Tom divorced his wife and married Rita in 1988 at her church and even converted from Catholicism to Rita’s religion, Eastern Orthodox Christianity, to do so.

The couple has two children together, Chester Marlon, born in 1990, and Truman Theodore born in 1995.

So, what has kept them going strong for over 20 years?

Rita: “We always make each other laugh, have honest communication, and I never take him for granted.”

Tom: “My secret to a happy marriage is just being married to the right woman. I got lucky with the wonderful Rita Wilson. I’m the luckiest man alive.”

Awww, Tom, you are so sweet!
